Most adviser platforms work by maximising your visibility to maximise their take. PROVUS works by making your visibility match your governance — so the students who reach you are the ones an institution thinks you're the right fit for, and the time you spend is on real conversations rather than filtering.

§ Two paths into Guild

Both paths governed. Onboarding differs slightly — that's the only difference.

Employed by an institution

You practise under the governance of a university, TAFE, professional body, government agency, or corporate. PROVUS connects to your institution's approval process; once you're approved internally, you appear on PROVUS.

Both, or it depends? Many advisers hold both employed and independent roles — a university adviser who also coaches privately, a professional body member with their own practice. PROVUS handles this by treating each role as a separate context with its own governance. You decide which appears where.

§ How visibility works on Guild

Endorsement-based. Not algorithm-driven.

On Guild, you don't compete for attention. You're visible to students whose context matches the scope of practice an institution has endorsed you for. There is no ranking algorithm. There is no "featured adviser." There is no paid placement.

This means you don't need to optimise your profile, gather reviews, or invest in keywords. Your time goes into the work, not into being seen doing the work.

One of the most common frustrations advisers report is uncertainty about what's theirs to decide. On Guild, the line is explicit — and the same for employed and independent paths, just with different actors on the institution side.

One thing worth noting: conversations between you and your students are yours, not the institution's. The institution governs the framework in which conversations happen, not the content of the conversations themselves.

§ What Guild is not

No marketplace mechanics. No platform tax on your reputation.

Most adviser platforms commodify the people on them. Guild is built differently — what's listed below is what we'll never do, by design.

No ratings, no reviews. Your reputation is governed by your institution and your work, not aggregated stars.
No platform-mandated rates. Pricing (where it applies) is between you, your institution, and the student. PROVUS doesn't set it, take a cut, or display it competitively.
No race to the bottom. Guild rewards governed practice. It does not reward being the fastest, the cheapest, or the most prolific.
